Sex and the City is an American romantic comedy-drama that originally premiered on HBO. Originally being broadcasted from 1998 till 2004 it's entire run constituted 94 episodes. Based on a book of the same name, the show filmed in New York follows the lives of four middle-aged women who despite their fluid personalities, continue to be inseparable.
The show brings light to promiscuity, safe sex, femininity and sexuality through a purposeful decision by the writers to omit their better early lives. We see the stark contrasts between four different perspectives on their relationships, and social lives.
Met by great acclaim the shows boasts several awards including seven of its 54 Emmy Award nominations, eight of its 24 Golden Globe Award nominations, and three of its 11 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. It has a sequel Sex and the City 2 and a prequel The Carrie Diaries.
