Popeye English TV SERIALS on Pogo
Written By - Team Nettv4u

It’s a cartoon character from our childhood whom we even miss today. We loved everything about the show – Popeye’s uniform, bonding with Olive, and the way he used to compete with Bluto. Seeing him made every kid eat spinach and made them believe that eating spinach will solve all the problem just as happened with Popeye. Popoye Jr, his child in blue is the cutest thing ever. Popoye started as a character in E.C. Segar’s comic strip “Thimble Theatre”,1929. He quickly became favourite among kids. This led to his appearance on july, 1933 in “Popeye the sailor”. Mar and DaveFleisher produced Popeye cartoon between 1933- 1942 (referred as season one).

After that Famous/Paramount Studios took his journey forward until 1957 (referred as season two). For television, King Features Syndicate introduced a new series of Popeye cartoons in 1960, with Al Brodax as executive producer. Mercer, Mae Questel, Jackson Beck worked together in the series. It was produced in collaboration with many companies that included- Jack Kinney Productions, Rembrandt Films, Larry Harmon Productions, Halas and Batchelor and Paramount Cartoon Stories. About 220 cartoons were produced in a time span of two years; in 1960 the first of them was premiered, while the last was in 1961-1962. In 2004, half of these cartoons were released on DVD, which came as the 75th anniversary Popeye boxed set.

On the 75th anniversary of the show Popeye, Lion’s Gate Entertainment produced ‘Popeye’s voyage: The Quest for Pappy’, an animates tv show, in 2004. After the first day of recording the show, Billy West’s (who was the voice of Popeye) throat became so sore that he had to get back to the hotel room in order to have honey. On November 9, 2004, the show was released on DVD without any edits. But later an edited version of the show was aired on December 17, 2004 and then again on December 30, 2005. The style of the show was largely influenced by 1930s popular cartoon named Fleischer cartoons. The show featured many characters that included- Olive Oyl, Bluto (depicted as a friend of Popeye in this), Wimpy, Sea Hag, Swee’Pea and Poopdeck Pappy.
