The show saw two seasons with 6 six episodes each. The duo writers were featured in the show and were married during Season 1 and got divorced soon after it. The ‘Fawlty Towers’ was one of best-rated series in British culture and was ranked no. 1 among top 100 best British television programs. An anecdotal lodging in the coastline town of Torquay on the English Riviera named “The Fawlty Towers” was managed by a rude and arrogant owner Basil Fawlty and his bossy wife, Sybil.

The hotel was taken care by a team of staff members which include chambermaid Polly who is often known as the peacemaker and a reasonable person, and an English-challenged Spanish waiter named Manuel. These people are usually seen trying to run the hotel in a peaceful manner amidst the demanding guest, crying and howling babies as well as trades people. In the plot, Basil is usually seen managing his hotel and having difficulty in getting his hotel success amidst the chaos, misunderstandings and mistakes of his staff and mostly of his own.

The unusual turn of events in each episode made Basil a little angrier and frustrated which shows the viewers his short-tempered nature. The guests at the hotel were seen to be hilarious and comical in nature which added fuel to Basil's anger and outbursts. Each episode's unique guest characters provided a different characteristic that he couldn’t stand, among them being licentious, working class and even foreigners, often testing the reasonable and impossible aspects of his temper. For instance, the episode “Communication Problems” revolves around the havoc caused by the frequent misunderstandings between the staff and the hard-of-hearing Mrs. Richards.

By the end of this episode, Basil get irked by a slight mention of her name. This scene is commonplace of the show weaving of amusing circumstances through comic drama cross-talk. Basil often displays glaring irritation as he attempts to climb the social ladder, as often as possible communicating despise for the ‘riff-raff’, ‘cretins’ and ‘yobbos’ that consistently populated his inn. His urgency is prompt as he makes progressive miserable moves and agonizing violation of social norms in attempting to curry support with those he sees as having predominant economic well-being.

However, he gets himself compelled to serve those people that are "underneath" him. Thus, Basil's endeavors have a tendency to be counter-profitable, with visitors leaving the lodging in appallment and his marriage extending to limit. Along these lines, Basil normally observed in dealing with the lodging and his life all through.
