Shaaticup is a Bengali TV serial. In this serial, Hannan and Joynal plan to invade the monopoly kingdom of drug lord Sohel. Sohel tasks Uttam, the region's most influential investigator, with capturing Hannan and Joynal. Several complex movements follow one another in this SnakeLudo game. Who will win this game? Drug barons, new traders, cunning officers, or someone beyond imagination? "Shaaticup" in the local Rajshahi dialect means to go underground or hide. Colloquially, it would also mean "fuck you." But that's the term used by a couple of local drug smugglers who do their best to smuggle heroin. Director, cinematographer, and co-screenwriter Mohammad Touqir Islam shapes a humorous and criminal world rooted in cultural specificity and revels in its milieu. As specificity breeds, universality, humor, and tense situations are like raw and brutal energy compatible with independent cinema.

It's Bangladesh's answer to Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur or Lijo Jose Pellisery's Angamaly diaries, filled with its unique dialect and low-budget sensibilities, that manages to scratch a few screenplay issues. It is a brilliant work that must be recognized. Another version: Shaaticup is a crime comedy-drama about a local drug dealer and Junkie. After thugs steal drugs from a drug lord, he gets angry and sends a Bureau of Drug Investigation officer to find out the truth. Not to upset him, the officer uses all available means to search for the criminals. From the first episode, the director, Mohammad Touqir Islam, draws the viewer into this world of madness with stunning cinematography and editing. With only eight episodes and a running time of less than half, around 20 minutes each, this crime comedy-drama gives an authentic experience of the locality, the people, and their dialect.
