My Paatu is a Tamil Musical show. A musical show is a genre of the television program in which the network airs only videos of songs from recorded artists or movies. The show only airs songs and nothing else. There’s no genre fixed in the kind of songs that are played on the channel as it airs all kinds of songs, be it melody, rock, acoustic, jazz, and whatnot. The only limitation to these musical shows is the language barrier as they aren’t allowed to air songs of all languages. The show airs only those songs that are in the same language as the network allows. So, My Paatu airs on a Tamil channel and hence airs only Tamil songs. But this hasn’t stopped these shows from becoming popular.
This layer of language has contributed more to the popular quotient of the show as now people who speak a certain language can watch and listen to their favorite songs on a particular channel and show. Usually, the musical shows follow a certain format where there may or may not be a host to introduce the songs and announce the artists who are associated with the song. Sometimes it is done by a host, but most of the time the network does it through the help of the title card. My Paatu also follows the same format for announcing the songs and the artists involved with that song. My Paatu airs on the Tamil channel Sun Music.
