Ken Jeong worked as a doctor before doing comedy and acting. When he was a medical practitioner, he encountered several funny situations in his real life which inspired him to create this show. The show primarily revolves around a clinician whose name is Dr. Kendrick and his family. He is a physician and works at an HMO, whose name is Welltopia Medical Group. He is very jovial and goofy by nature and loves his family. His family consists of his wife, two children, and a sister. The name of his wife is Dr. Allison Park. She is qualified to be a therapist. All of her family relies on her for advice to solve their problems, as Allison is practical as well as smart.

Because of this, her children are more respectful towards her than their father. She also encourages Kendrick to become a better person. Both of them have two young ones, a girl, and a boy. The name of the girl is Molly Park. She is a regular teenager, who similar to all girls of her age, loves to dress up, spend time with her friends, and drool over boys. However, she is also good in studies and though she sometimes tends to neglect her family she loves them too. The name of the lad is Dave Park. He too is a genius however he has some very odd habits.

Some of his outlandish habits include biting anyone who neglects him, implying drastic measures for a cause he believes in; example: water conservation, or eating in his bed without the help of any utensils when he is upset. However, he loves pizza and so both his parents try to make him behave by promising him to buy him pizza. Dr. Ken Season 1 is an American sitcom. Ken Jeong was the creator, writer, co-executive producer and lead actor of the show. The concept of the show was based on his own experience as he was a doctor before becoming a stand-up comedian. It started on 2 October 2015 on ABC and had 22 episodes.

The story revolves around a Korean-American physician who works at Welltopia Medical Group and his family which consists of his therapist wife, his self-centred and popular doctor and his brilliant and socially clueless son. Ken’s job is endangered as he ends up making fun of a patient.When Ken’s daughter, Molly, clears her driving test, he thinks to put GPS on her but is disapproved by Allison. Ken is in jail when he learns from Clark that Molly has ended her friendship with Avery, and at Welltopia, Ken receives a patient’s apology with whom he was very tough during his colonoscopy treatment which proved helpful for the patient. Ken is forced to take part in a bedside manners seminar as Clark writes a patient complaint against him which makes them enemies, so Julie and Damona try to team up to help them reconcile.

Allison has to deal with Ken’s parents as they arrive when Ken is not at home. Ken and Allison are on opposite sides when Dave gets a nickname at school. Molly and Dave get into doubt about Ken being their real father after attending Kevin O’Connell, Allison’s ex-boyfriend, honouring function.

Molly finds it difficult to choose what she wants to be for her school project. On Halloween, Ken decides to redo his proposal of 20 years back, but Clark has to save it when he and Allison pick up a fight. Molly has to ask Dave’s help when she ends up wrecking Gary, Ken’s plastic skeleton, and Damona encourages Julie to face Pat after she accidentally gives him a fentanyl lollipop. Ken shows Molly dangers of alcohol, while Allison invites Dave for a book reading. Dr. Wendi Park, Ken’s Sister, and Ken end up fighting on her talk show for which they are reprimanded by their parents.

Thanksgiving party turns out to a culture clash between the families, and an event makes Ken realize that Dave’s happiness is much more important than a sports event. Allison seems excited for Hawaii trip on New Year, but Ken faces problem at work due to Damona as she doesn’t give him approval by making up excuses. The family is late at the airport where Ken has some problem with Dr. Oz and booking attendant, Allison gets annoyed as Molly keeps texting her boyfriend, and Ken wins money in poker and gets to board early by little bribing.

Meanwhile, with Ken gone Julie is in charge of the clinic, and she annoys Clark and Damona with her methods of treatment. Molly is having a problem for finding a job as she keeps on getting fired. Ken’s stern father’s visit makes him feel inadequate. Damona reveals that she and Pat slept together, but when Pat announces that because of that he is back together with his wife, she feels hurt, and later they attend Julie’s Valentine’s Day party where Damona helps Julie to stand up against her boyfriend, Topher.

Ken is against Dave’s choice of girl for Valentine’s Day dance as girl’s father once took him to court. A wedding of Ken’s co-worker arrives which is full of different incidents, Allison revealing her hate for Ken’s selfish dancer image, Julie, Clark, and Damona getting at the wrong place, and Molly getting a neighbour to babysit Dave from which he tries to sneak out with Henry. Ken gets impressed by Sean, Molly’s new boyfriend, but later it turns out to be that he is cheating on her with Chloe.

Ken decides to take Molly to a popular concert, but she pushes him away as he embarrasses her infront of her friends. Damona decides to break up with Pat, and Dave tries desperately to avoid tetanus injection. Ken is happy to see his favourite patient Dicky Wexler, but it turns out to be that his cancer is back and he cannot do his last show, but Ken is fully determined to make it work for him. Ken is invited as a medical expert witness at a trial where he faces confidence issues, but later he regains himself by the help of HMO staff.

Allison helps Dave to make replica designer dress for Molly while hoping for her appreciation and respect. Ken joins a civics-minded community group reluctantly because of Allison’s insistence, and Pat is told about an available apartment by Julie in Clark’s building after seeing him living in office despite Clark’s objections. Doug, Ken’s college friend, comes which inspires Ken to follow his dream to become a stand-up comedian but he realizes that it is not that easy. D.K offers to buy Dave a videogame if he beat him at physical challenges so that Dave exercise more.
