The last man on earth is a successfully running TV series, presented by FOX. It is a science fiction with a perfect blend of comedy, action, and drama. It is a show that people of all ages from the different backgrounds of the world can enjoy. The show is initially set up in Tucson, Arizona, but in the later seasons relocates to Malibu. In the show, the story starts in the year 2020. It is a post-apocalyptic scenario wherein almost the entire human race has been washed off the face of the planet due to the spread of a deadly virus.

The plot of the show revolves around a man in his early 30s, named Phil Tandy Miller who is a survivor on the earth. He had been alive for almost two years and had not yet discovered any other fellow human. He is shown playing with balls and flirting with mannequins. He is so tired of his solitary that finally decides to end his life. So, he takes out his truck and plans to drive it into a rock to die, but, just before his suicides, he happens to come across a girl, named Carol who is the female protagonist of the show.

She, in spite of Phil’s irritating attitude, decides to marry Phil to re-populate earth. On their wedding day, they come across Melissa, a beautiful young girl and finds her refuge with Phil and Carol. This creates a scenario of a love triangle between the three, where Phil tries to impress Melissa and has second thoughts about his marriage. And, due to the on-going tension, Carol divorces Phil. The show, further, introduces many more new characters such as Todd, Erica, Gail, etc. The show also introduces another character who is also called Phil Miller.

He is an exact opposite of our protagonist. He is a handsome and intelligent man. He intimidates our protagonist very easily. They even have a competition upon who amongst the two gets to retain the name “Phil” which is won by the newly introduced character. The protagonist is there onwards referred to as “Tandy”. Out of jealousy Tandy and Todd even plot to kill Phil but are caught in the process, resulting in Tandy’s banishment to the society. Carol leaves along with Tandy, and the new Phil is made the president of the society by the others.

The consecutive seasons bring more characters, action, twists and drama leading to more entertainment has been running successfully for over three years now with the fourth season on the screens. It is an epitome of what a TV serial should be. The blend of so many genres is what makes it more unique and distinctive from the other shows.
